
We spent several hours at the Little Big Horn Battlefield today. Really enjoyed it. So much history. Left there and headed west again. Got into some rain this afternoon. The temperature dropped from the high we had of 74 degrees to coming into Butte, MT-38 degrees. In Butte, MT for the night.

National Cemetery-Veterans from all the different wars, including the Vietnam Conflict are buried here.


The place where General Custer went down. On June 28, 1876, the bodies of Custer & his command are hastily buried in shallow graves at or near where they fell. In 1877 Custer's remains are interred at the US Military Acadamy at West Point, N.Y.

Last Stand Hill-On this knoll Custer & approximately 41 men shoot their horses for breastworks & make a stand, Approximately 10 men, including Custer, his brother Tom & Lt William Cooke, are found in the vicinity of the present 7th Cavalry memorial. Other soldiers are found within the enclosure are below the knoll.

Markers like these are found through out the Battlefield grounds. They show where they found remains from the battle.

Snow on the mountain top on the way to Butte. The temperature dropped to 38 degrees coming off the mountain into Butte. We had rain and a little fog.
