The Shuttle

These are all pictures taken this evening at 5:02 when the Shuttle went up. These were taken in our back yard. We had a fairly good "rumble" after it left the ground. Sometimes if the wind is just right, the "rumble" will vibrate some of the dishes in the China closet. It didn't do that tonight.

This & That

This is a Ever Blooming Lilac bush that we planted. It is zoned for here. Sure hopes it keeps growing and will bloom.
These are just a few of the fish in our pond. They seem to hear us walk over to the pond. They come over to the edge where we feed them and stick their mouths right out the water waiting to be fed.

These are hanging baskets that Pop's had in Sarasota. We really enjoy them. Richard is feeding the fish in the back ground.

Traveling Souvenirs

We collect one of these little souvenirs in every state we go to. I think there are one or two states that we have two of them. This is the only souvenir that we buy. Our home is so small, we just don't have the room for larger things.

God has sure blessed us with a beautiful country. We thank Him for our safe trip. As always, it's good to be back home.

Days 15 & 16

Didn't have internet service last evening. We left Limon, CO-48 degrees, but warmed up to a high of 87 for the day. We got on 70E. We came into KS around 10:00 AM. So much flat lands-the plains. Alot of irrigation going on. Temp in Topeka, KS was 87. We stayed in Topeka for the night. This morning(Sun) we left early (4:55AM) and headed for Missouri. Beautiful day. Temp was 59 when we left. We got to St Louis, MO where the Arch is located. Wasn't real sure if I would go up or not. Well, I decided I would. What an experience! Then we got into Illinois around 1:15. Got on 64E to 57S to 24E toward Nashville. We are in Cadiz, KY tonight. Will leave in the morning to continue towards home. It will probably be Tuesday sometime when we get home. It's not taking near as much time to see what we wanted to see as we thought it would. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Day 14

We left Chadron, Neb. this morning-20W to 385S. Not too much in Neb, flat lands, cattle & horses. Got on 80W close to Sidney exit 59, at exit 55 took 19S to 113S. Entered Colorado at 10:55. 113S to 138W. At Sterling we got on 76W. At Denver-25S. Took 24W exit 141-Pikes Peak at 1:45. We were disappointed. We couldn't go all the way to the top. It snowed up there this morning and the fog really set in. We were allowed to go up to a little over 11,000 feet. I took a few pictures where I could. It was 31 degrees. Part way up it turns into a dirt road. Had to wash the van this evening. When we came back down from Pikes Peak, took 24E to 25S to 24E again. We are staying in Limon CO tonight at the Econo Lodge.

Day 13

We had a very interesting day. We left Hill City this morning on 385S. 48 degrees, beautiful morning. Went to Crazy Horse Monument. So much Indian history. I can't post everything about it. Everyone should look it up. We got to meet the sculptor's wife, Ruth. He passed away some years ago. I could go on and on. Left there on 385N to 244E to Mt Rushmore. It is amazing. Left there on 244W to 385 to 87S to Custer State Park. Oh the landscape. 3 one lane tunnels, very windy roads. The one road was called the Needles Hwy where the tunnels were. Went on the wild life loop. Saw deer, buffalo, antelope, wild burros, long horn sheep. Then we were on some very small back roads. This will confuse everyone. The route numbers weren't even on the map. Out of the wild life loop onto 16A to 36E, leaving Custer State Park at 3:15. From 36E to 79N to Hermosa to 44E to Scenic to the Bad Lands-589-27-to 33S to 28E. We were on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Stopped at Wounded Knee. Saw the site where the Indian Massacre took place and saw the cemetary where most of them were buried. It's so sad. Took 18W to Pine Ridge to 87S. Carson, sorry, there was no Welcome to Nebraska sign. At Rushville took 20W to Chadron, Nebraska for the night. Will head for Colorado, Pike's Peak.

Day 12

Left Cody, WY this morning-50 degrees and cloudy. Still on 14/16E. Went to Greybull and went on routes 16/20S. Mostly horse and sheep ranches, some cattle. Saw a beautiful ring neck pheasant. When we got to Woeland, we got on 16E. Got into Big Horn National Forest. Parts of it looked like canyon lands again. Went into Ten Sleep Canyons, some huge mountain rocks. Interesting traveling, places where it was straight down beside the road, plus it was very curvy too. Big Horn Ski area elevation was 9,666 ft. Snow flurries with quite abit of snow on the ground. Temp dropped to 29. In Buffalo we took 90E to Gillette. Very little traffic. Then it started to rain. Had rain most of the afternoon. Still on 90E heading for Moorcroft-took exit 153 to 14E. At Devil's Tower Jct took 24E. Got to see Devil's Tower. In 5th grade we studied it. Our school class wrote to the school in Devil's Tower. Fog started to settle in so we went on. Got back down to 90E to South Dakota. Exit 17 went on 85S to 385S to Deadwood. Staying in Hill City SD. Tomorrow it will be Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monument.
